This book explores the way Chinese fashion apparel industry managed the demand and supply chain to confront the fourth structural change since 2010. With the gradual shift from a planned economy to a market economy, China went through a series of market changes during the last four decades. The textiles and apparel (TA) industry, as a basic, consuming industrial sector with a long supply pipeline and large consumer demand, represents an industrial example of a fast-growing economy under globalisation. Since 1978, China has used the practice of the Open Door Policy and the local fashion apparel (FA) market has gone through four significant industrial changes. Confronted with the latest change in 2010, these dynamic changes have posed significant impacts on the current market, such as increasing the labour cost, creating more diverse demands and raising market competition. The purpose of this study is to explore the responses of the Chinese FA firms to the impacts of the fourth structural change in China.
