Drawing on a variety of disciplinary and theoretical approaches, this collection of essays makes a contribution to three areas of current, and often contentious, debate within Irish studies in the late-20th century. Tackling issues such as historiography, nationalism, postcoloniality, traumatic remembering, gender identity and the politics of space, the book explores some of the issues that have shaped debates surrounding Irish history, culture and identities.
