Image Segmentation is a key process used to analyse an image to obtain particular information. This book represents digital image processing as well as looking at the fundamentals of image segmentation, and the applications it can be used with. An example of this includes Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), which works by transmission of high frequency radio waves that send multiple signals into the ground, which then responds by signals that are reflected back and returned to the GPR equipment. The resulted images from GPR are stored on digital media and processing system to be processed by segmentation model. This book will explain in detail the main image segmentation techniques, such as Threshold, Edge, Gradient, Region, Neural Networks and Cluster-Based Image Segmentation. Moreover, this work implements various image segmentation techniques on GPR images to find out the objects in those images that represented by wave's reflections. MATLAB will be used in the process to provide a brief comparison among these techniques based on the results of the detection process.
