Dental crowding is one of the commonest problems in dental practice and, particularly, in orthodontics. There are several methods of relieving crowding but Inter proximal enamel reduction is a very simple technique to use in Orthodontics, contrary to other space gaining systems. Sequential proximal stripping is routinely carried out to avoid extraction in borderline cases where space discrepancy is less and reserved for treatment of mild tooth-size/arch-size discrepancies. Among the existing therapeutic methods to gain space, stripping or slenderizing is with no doubt the most popular. Orthodontists have also turned to proximal stripping to help them stabilize the occlusions that have been produced by their therapy and help retreat any relapse that may have occurred after this therapy.
