This monograph is valuable, not only for those scholars who are willing to reconstruct current climate law discourses but also for practitioners that intend to strengthen their arguments. Also, Mayer's contextual analysis can be borrowed to discuss another topic: "international law obligations on climate change adaptation".
Benoit Mayer is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he teaches environmental and international law. He is a member of the UNFCCC roster of experts, and received the International and Comparative Law Quarterly's 2019 Young Scholar Prize. His research explores various aspects of the international law on climate change, ranging from the concept of climate migration to the application of customary and human rights law.
