Unprecedented population increases have occurred after human being started sedentary way of life. Now a day human population is growing in very alarming rate and resulted in depletion of natural resources and environmental pollution which are manifested in land degradation, soil erosion, deforestation, forest degradation, flooding, smelting of polar icecaps, drying of wetland, submerge of water body, elimination of some susceptible species of both plants and animals, disease outbreak and epidemics, expansion of exotic species and so on. Such problems are going to destroy the entire environmental system unless strong measures are taken. To play my part as newly emerging environmental scientist I attempted to come up with different ideas and measurements for land degradation, the impact of land degradation on fresh water either it is potable or used for other purpose in this book. This book contains different environmental issues. Land degradation indicates temporary or permanent long-term decline in ecosystem function and productive capacity and great problem of today's world. The most pressing environmental problems in the least developed countries are prevalent in rural areas.
