This book presents the development and evaluation of herbal gels containing neem oil for treating tinea capitis and related fungal infections. The research focuses on optimizing gel formulations using gelling agents such as Carbopol and HPMC to achieve ideal pH, viscosity, spreadability, and stability. Phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of active constituents like azadirachtin and nimbidin, responsible for strong antifungal action. In-vitro and ex-vivo studies showed effective fungal inhibition and sustained drug release, comparable to standard antifungal drugs. The gels demonstrated good skin compatibility, stability, and prolonged therapeutic activity. While limited to laboratory evaluations, the study highlights neem gel's potential as a safe, natural, and effective alternative to synthetic antifungal formulations, with future scope in clinical trials, large-scale production, and combination herbal systems.
