Energy management is often neglected in the industry as it comprises a low cost when compared to raw materials or labor. Nonetheless, in this book it is shown that the savings obtained through energy efficiency improvements, in one single mid-sized plant, reach hundreds of thousands of euros per year. This book describes the methodology to achieve such savings and describes the actual work performed in a factory operated by SONAE Industria - one of world leaders in the production of wood board products. It is aimed at professionals or academics who want to obtain state of the art knowledge on how leading enterprises deal with the energy management topic. As an outcome of the project described in this work, it is demonstrated that the energy efficiency measures chosen to be implemented led to savings of around 12.000MWh/year, which translates into savings of around 330.000 per year."
