Currently, chronic renal failure is one of the ten leading causes of death according to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO); this disease affects a significant percentage of the population, mainly because its main causes lie in chronic diseases of high prevalence such as diabetes and hypertension, which cause irreversible damage to the kidney and progressive loss of renal function. Based on this problem, the present research was carried out to determine the incidence and determining factors of chronic renal failure in users attending the Dialysis Unit of the San Vicente de Paul Hospital. The information was obtained through the application of surveys to 30 patients of the Dialysis Unit who were taken as the universe. The surveys showed that the determining factors of chronic renal failure are: diabetes, arterial hypertension, hereditary factor and the aging process. After obtaining these results, a prevention guide called "Promoting lifestyles in patients with renal failure" was prepared.
