The Internet of Things (IoT) is an environment in which people, animals or objects are equipped with individual identities and have the ability to transmit data across the network without the need for human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. Internet of Things is similar to conventional computer networks, so security requirements such as confidentiality, integrity, availability, and non-repudiation must be taken into account in building a network environment. One of the appropriate solutions for providing security in IoT is cryptography. we propose a modification of the A5 /1 stream cipher to the Internet of Things (IoT) as lightweight algorithm and can be applied to the constrained devices used within IoT, we have used the Fair Evaluation for Lightweight Cryptographic systems (FELICs) benchmark. The generated key measured using statistical tests (frequency test, serial test, run test, poker test, and autocorrelation test) and NIST test to estimate randomness in the generated key is one of the security parameters.
