Tafsir Ruh al-Ma ani is an extensive and elaborate Arabic commentary on the Qur'an written during 1836-1851 C.E. by a prominent Islamic Scholar Allamah Mahmud al-Alusi of Baghdad. Scholars have unanimously appreciated and accepted it as a valid, authentic and highly informative tafsir. M. Ashraf 'Ali Thanavi, prominent Sufi and Qur'anic Scholar of Indian Sub-Continent heavily relied upon it when he was writing his tafsir, Tafsir Bayan al-Qur'an, (completed in 1907 C.E.). He was mostly influenced from it so much so that almost every page of the latter has references to the former. The present work presents the different aspects of this impact and influence in a systematic way. The reader can find many interesting discussions related to the Qur'anic Sciences in the present work. The discussions made here are highly valuable and interesting. The reader can hardly find such discussion elsewhere since very little has been written on these two Tafasir.
