Clint later learns from a keelboat captain that Storm may still be alive. This launches him on a tireless search to find her. The story, however, does not focus strictly on Clint's pursuit. Moreover, it illuminates a colorful cast of characters whom he and Storm encounter. Plus, it provides an exciting and gritty depiction of frontier life.
