International relations between the Dominican Republic and Haiti have been historically marked since colonial times by disagreements, either by the conflicts inherent to the imperial struggles of the metropolises to which both colonies belonged, or by the struggles for territorial spaces or the definition of their borders during the republican era of both territories. With this work, in the form of an essay, we will try to make a revealing journey within the framework of Dominican-Haitian diplomatic relations[1], its impact on the border area, seeking understanding as a methodological way of intercultural dialogue between peoples in search of a culture of peace. In this way, ...we set some questions such as these: Which measures or actions to be taken between both States would contribute to the improvement of their diplomatic relations or which public security policies would have an integral impact on the concept of human security of all their inhabitants, ... beyond the traditional conception of security in general, be it public security or citizen security in both States.
