I Through Sasse, Sasse Through Me herein referred to as "ITSSTM" is an attempt by Clinton Egbemba an alumnus of Saint Joseph's college Sasse - an all-male single sex college founded in 1939, to chronicle the events and anecdotes that transpired during his time in Sasse as a student and his time as an alumnus or member of SOBA - Sasse Old Boys Association in the University of Buea and now in the United States of America. In our gatherings as ex-students of saint joseph's college sasse we always remember with nostalgia our days in Sasse and relive our experiences many years ago. This book is the ultimate anecdote to all boarding school experiences in Cameroon. This book being the first of its kind on Saint Joseph's college Sasse, the author tries to delve into principles leading up to the founding of the school, the vision of the missionaries to assimilate the students through the catholic doctrine and secular education. This is an attempt to give an insight into the life of Sasse Student, their way of thinking, their goals and ambitions in life, the power of the alumni and the role that they play in shaping the school's vision, in helping out students to cherish virtues of hard work, brotherliness, tolerance and sacrifice, and at the same time shun and abhor nepotism, bribery and corruption which characterized our epoch. Popular aspects of students' life are brought to the limelight; student governments from Malleism, going through Olusim, the Dohnovic government, the Gauisaic-Esocacry, and the Keno-Teranic government, just to name a few. The purpose of this being to showcase Sasse Students' molding principles; how from a very young age student are groomed to handle leadership positions in school, thereby translating these virtues later on life to become leaders in society. It is from this very young age that students encounter power; power that they wield over their fellow man, the rewards, and the vices. This goes a long way to introduce students to the electoral process, campaigns, debates, political victories and failures. This prepares young students to better appreciate the political process and get involved as soon as they meet the minimum age requirements before or after they leave school. ITSSTM seeks to expose some of the ills that characterize boarding school life; the author as protagonist talks about the gestapo, bullying, financial extortion from the school, members of staff, and students. Immoral sexual relationships between students, the occult, and the disparity that exists between students of different backgrounds and the attempt by the school administration to quash these disparities as much as possible. Sasse being a very expensive catholic institution in the heart of rural Tole tea estate, the author seeks to describe the relationship between members of the Tole community and Sasse Student, the role that they play in the lives of the students and staff and how the college and students help grow their economy. Academic excellence, impeccable English are scrutinized and revealed to the world to help stop disseminating the popular thinking that boarding school students are usually given speco prio to public exams. The author tries to explain the role of the teachers in the life of students, not only as instructors but also as role models, as older brothers and sisters, their role in the life of the students even after classes end. In this book, the author tries to expound on study techniques used in school and the decent academic completion that exists between students and between Sasse college and other colleges around the country.
