This book provides unique systems that were developed, honed, and tweaked over my college years. I create systems for academic work that give students the most problems and that are the most mysterious. For example, I give a step-by-step process for efficiently writing a strong research paper. Many students do not know where to begin or get stalled along the process. My method provides a detailed map from the beginning to the end. Many times the hardest part of the paper writing process is the very beginning - choosing a topic and an argument. This was certainly a problem for me. I read many writing books, but the advice never hammered down an effective way for finding a topic and creating an argument. I provide the reasoning and detailed methods for nailing down a paper topic and argument. For instance, I have a chapter filled with paper primers that will fuel the reader's creativity when trying to find a topic and argument for her papers. The book's other chapters provide similar systems, which provide both reasoning behind the method as well as examples that flesh out how to implement the system. Too many times books that offer advice on how to succeed in college provide generic advice that students already know, but the students continue to face the same challenges that are hard to wrap one's hands around. This book brushes aside the murky clouds surrounding those challenges, and it explains simply and systematically how to tackle them by understanding the mechanics behind the problems and the systems that solve those problems.
