A two-act heart warming comedy with a central theme of friendship. Running time approx 105 minutes. Single set of easy construction. (Cast 3M, 3F.) Cast of three couples. Age can be flexible but BRADY and PANSY the younger couple should be about thirty years old or more. The two other couples are friends of similar ages and have to be about fifteen years or more older than BRADY and PANSY. There is room for adjusting ages by adjusting time-scales in the script. All the action takes place on a camp-site in France, comprising one side of a very small old shabby caravan, part of an old frame tent, and a complete self-supporting modern smaller tent. Time: Present, afternoon, evening, night and following morning. MELONIE, a dominant wife and headmaster husband JIM have come to France with an old caravan (story to this ).They are accompanied by JILL and art teacher husband PETE who are their long-standing friends. The action starts with the collapse of the awning, which MELONIE and JIM are attempting to erect. We learn of the friends history and importantly MELONIE and JIM'S 'inheritance' which resulted in a less close relationship in recent years. We learn of MELONIE and JIM'S accountant/financial advisor Lord Barthwarte. A lottery ticket is bought. We are introduced to an apparently hippie type couple who occupy the smaller tent. BRADY mocks the older couples middle class values. Having no cash PANSY puts both the older men into compromising positions in order to 'borrow' money off them. Act I ends with a gas explosion as MELONIE is preparing some tea. Amateur Groups may perform this play for 20 per performance. Cover Design Peter Guscott"
