Hesiod entwirft in den Erga das Bild von einem Menschen, dessen Dasein nicht allein einem unabwendbaren Schicksal unterliegt. Geleitet vom Verstand (nous) übernimmt stattdessen der Einzelne Verantwortung für sein Handeln. Vorliegende Untersuchung geht nicht allein dieser - im Rahmen der frühgriechischen Literatur neuartigen - Sichtweise nach, sondern zeigt auch, dass dem nous eine Schlüsselfunktion für eine adäquate Rezeption der Erga zukommt.
