Divorce is hard for anyone, and even harder to understand for an elementary age child. Things get really complicated when Kevin's mom and dad each meet new people. Kevin is confused and goes through many emotions trying to sort through the whole break up of his family and the start of a new family life. Kevin finds in the end that he doesn't have to choose who to love and loyalty does not have to be divided. A heart full of love is a wonderful feeling. With so few stories about divorce and stepparents for children to read and identify with, I am hoping to offer a story that will allow children going through the same experience someone to identify with. My wish is for this to help children in a similar situation feel better about loving all of their caregivers even outside a mom/dad family. Children should be "allowed," and feel comfortable to love everyone because there is room in their hearts to hold all the love they have to give.
