However, an attempt has been made throughout to bring together pertinent information that will serve the needs of nonspecialists, provide a quick reference to material that might otherwise be difficult to locate, and furnish a starting point for further study.The project was undertaken with the realization that the initial volumes in the series could have some obvious deficiencies that will necessitate subsequent revisions. In the meantime, it is felt that the primary objectives of the Sections Editors and their Advisory Boards has been met in this first Edition.
