Dr. Frank L. Lanza received his medical degree and a master's degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed his residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas/M.D. Anderson Hospital Cancer Center in Houston Texas. He remained on the staff of M.D. Anderson for four years and then entered fulltime private practice. He was appointed to the clinical faculty at Baylor College of Medicine in 1972 and is currently Professor of Medicine in the section of Gastroenterology of the Department of Medicine at Baylor. He is a past president of both The American College of Gastroenterology and The Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. He is a recipient of the highest awards for service from both societies. He founded the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Laboratory at the Harris County Ben Taub General Hospital for the teaching service of The Baylor College of Medicine and remains currently active in that program. In addition to his teaching and practice roles, Dr. Lanza has been active in clinical research, publishing over 100 scientific papers in peer reviewed medical journals covering various subjects, but is best known for his extensive work in gastric ulcer disease relating to anti-inflammatory drugs. Dr. Lanza and his wife Alice are the founders and directors of Hineni Ministries, Inc. (www.hineniministries.org/), a Christian educational organization.
