En tant que professeur d'archéologie classique à l'université de Fribourg, Nathan Badoud a dirigé le projet de recherche «Aegeum», destiné à explorer l'intégration économique du monde grec - et plus spécialement égéen - dans l'empire romain. After studying Classics and numismatics at Oxford University, Richard Ashton became a career diplomat with postings at Kuala Lumpur, Geneva, Athens and Ankara. He is the author of numerous publications on the coinages of Rhodes and Asia Minor, and spent several decades editing the ancient half of The Numismatic Chronicle and the Special Publications of the Royal Numismatic Society.As professor of classical archaeology at the University of Fribourg, Nathan Badoud directed the research project "Aegeum" whose purpose is to study the economic integration of the Greek world, especially that of the Aegean region, into the Roman Empire. The first results from this project, which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, are published in the present volume.
