The Church is at a crossroads today. It has to decide just what it will be. Will it be a club for people who like to do Christian things and hang out together? Will it be a place that simply teaches moral values so its members live good lives and contribute positively to society? Will its buildings lay silent and serve as historical reminders of a past era when people actually went to church? Or is there a greater destiny that God has in store? The latter is what this book is all about; it is about a Church realizing that it can't afford to be a club or historical landmark. It serves a greater purpose: to be a body of believers in Jesus who boldly and strategically share the message that God loves the world so much that He sent Jesus to break down the barriers we have put up in our lives that separate us from fully knowing God and the radically abundant life He gives. It is the message of Jesus suffering and rising again so we can live free to be all that a loving God wants us to be and to eventually spend eternity in a perfect heaven with Him. Note that I used the word strategically. There are churches and groups all over the world doing wonderful work for the Savior. Millions daily are being touched with God's love and hope; yet there are so many more millions yet to experience that love and hope. In Gospel Strategy, I hope to help believers take the steps necessary to reach all the world with the Gospel. This book will be a bit different than your average evangelism or discipleship book. One big difference is that it may sound at points a bit militant. I am not going to let anyone believe that we can just coast through life, witnessing to people here and there. That strategy does not work; in fact, look around-the hopeless, ever-darker world we encounter daily is a direct result of that strategy. Every Christian is a soldier in God's army and has a distinct part in fulfilling the Great Commission. This book hopes to encourage every believer to find out what their role is and to joyfully work together to see big results in individual lives and in the world.
