Licht also examines the disparate labor market experiences of men and women and the effects of race, ethnicity, age, and social standing on employment. Walter Licht is Professor of History and Associate Dean at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of Working for the Railroad: The Organization of Work in the Nineteenth Century (recipient of the Philip Taft Labor History Prize), Industrializing America: The Nineteenth Century, and coauthor of Work Sights: Industrial Philadelphia, 1890-1950.
