This work investigates the possibility of obtaining 2-D all-pole low-pass filters, starting from all- pass filters. Previously, it has been shown that only 2-D band-pass and/or band-elimination filters were possible, when the starting point was the corresponding all-pass filters. In order to obtain such low-pass filters, the structure has been modified and the corresponding design procedure is enunciated. Starting from such analog low-pass filters, 2-D digital filters (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and band-elimination) have been obtained by the use of generalized bilinear transformations, which ensure stability. Further, it has been demonstrated that such filters can be effectively used in image processing applications."
