Archilochos ist der erste Autor der europäischen Geistesgeschichte, dem es vorrangig um den Ausdruck der eigenen Empfindungen und Gedanken geht. Neu und stilbildend an seinem Werk ist der subjektive Ton. Anders als Homer oder Hesoid verzichtet der Lyriker Archilochos auf alles Lehrhafte und Heroische. Wegen seiner Derbheit wurde der im 7. Jahrhundert v. Chr. lebende Dichter lange Zeit weniger geschätzt, diese Direktheit macht ihn heute aber im besonderen Maße interessant.

O autorze

Dr. Rainer Nickel studierte Klassische Philologie in Marburg und Berlin und wurde 1970 in Berlin über ein philosophiegeschichtliches Thema promoviert. Der Altphilologe arbeitete zunächst als Lehrer für Latein und Griechisch, bevor er Leiter des Max-Planck-Gymnasiums in Göttingen wurde. Er ist Mitarbeiter der Reihe "Tusculum" und an der Herausgabe der Zeitschrift "Der altsprachliche Unterricht" beteiligt. Er zählt zu den führenden Didaktikern des altsprachlichen Unterrichts.
