Associate Professor Tarek Ganat joined the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS as lecturer at the Petroleum Engineering Department in January 2017. He holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering and has more than twenty-five years of experience in various areas of the industry. He has gained particular expertise in production and reservoir engineering through his participation in integrated studies with different oil and gas companies, such as Repsol Exploration Company, Petro-Canada Oil Company, and PETRONAS Grigali Oil company. He has extensive international experience in fractured carbonate and clastic reservoir characterization, and full field development. He has authored several papers in various journals and conferences, as well as acting as a reviewer for the Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology.
This book explains the basic technologies, concepts, approaches, and terms used in relation to reservoir rocks. Accessible to engineers in varying roles, it provides the tools necessary for building reservoir characterization and simulation models that improve resource definition and recovery, even in complex depositional environments. The book is enriched with numerous examples from a wide variety of applications, to help readers understand the topics. It also describes in detail the key relationships between the different rock properties and their variables. As such, it is of interest to researchers, engineers, lab technicians, and postgraduate students in the field of petroleum engineering.
