This memoir begins with childhood, college days, and marriage but quickly takes us to Tanzania, where John Ostheimer was teaching at the University of East Africa, while pursuing his Ph.D. research on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. We get to the title when they return to the US and he begins his career as a professor and ends up as Provost of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Nancy assisted John with his research and truly enjoyed getting to know faculty members. She owned a gourmet cookware shop, earned a Master's Degree, and was a technical writer for Siemen's Corporation before retiring. Books, friends, and identifying wildflowers and birds fill her retirement years. John loves fly fishing and has instilled that love in their children and several grandchildren. Camping, hiking and fishing with them, especially after retirement in 2001, has added a delightful dimension to their lives.
