"Bob Thompson's gripping personal stories reveal his pastoral sensitivity, the development of his own pastoral identity through lived experience, his deep commitment to social justice, and his deep love and respect for his muse, his life-partner Bev and their children. He has supervised a number of United Church of Canada ministry candidates, including me, with a remarkable gift of astute mentorship while relating collegially. One of few church leaders who has facilitated an effective church merger, resulting in vital local ministry, there is little doubt that its success relates to Bob's missiological understanding, grounded in personal experiences of living the gospel at home and abroad." -Rev.
