It is a matter of concern to find high levels of smoking, especially among the middle class and lower middle aged people and an alarming dip in the BMI and weight in smokers. Smoking being considered a social taboo in society also had a nutritional aspect which was generally not discussed or planned in govt. schemes. The govt. Schemes for tobacco smoke cessation should involve the dieticians and nutritionists to take care of the issues relating Nicotine induced anorexia and weight loss. Management of the depleting nutritional as well as emotional status of the smokers should be of paramount importance as neglect of this particular issue resulted in low health and work status of smokers which are high in numbers and which should not be neglected. Hence along with the programmes of quit smoking we should also try to initiate the management of smoker's anorexic weightloss and defective nutritional status so that in the meantime he will be able to do his routine work as well as live a healthy life.
