The shading already in the sketches comes through when you use colored pencils, so you can just apply color, or add more shading if you're in the mood. We recommend this book for ages 8 and up, but we have found detail-oriented 6 and 7-year-olds enjoying this book when they thought no one was looking. This is a revision of the previously published "Le Chateau Bidaine" (bilingual English/French, also available on Amazon). Some of the sketches here have been simplified for easier coloring, and this story is told through Follymops' eyes. Volume 1 of this series (same title) is less expensive and has black and white pages only, with 39 sketches-to-color and some additional blank pages in the back of the book.
