Each image has a blank back and empty space around the illustration, allowing the pictures to be torn out and framed if wished. Recurring themes include stars, moons, and feathers. This book was created by an artist who was once a horse-mad girl and who has been scribbling images of horses for over thirty years. Each picture has been created with love and admiration for these beautiful beasts. We recommend coloured pencils, crayons, metallic pens, indian ink, and watercolours or other paints used slightly more dryly than normal. Whatever you are using, it is best to place a sheet of thick paper or card beneath your image as you work, to protect the following page from potential bleed through. Permanent marker pens, for example, will almost certainly bleed through. A couple of blank pages are provided, to allow you to test your chosen mediums. The delicate illustrations make use of bold lines contrasted with empty space, to allow your own creative input. You could colour the images in as they stand or add extra line detail, for example by filling a background with stars or adding zebra stripes to a horse's face. Images could become colourful rainbows or elegant monochromatic patterns.
