In an effort to understand the role that fathers play in the development of their children, research literature examines the amount of time that fathers spend interacting with, being available to, and being responsible for their children. A model examining these different types of parental involvement is described herein. Also discussed in this book is the effect that paternal depression may have on family relationships and offspring functioning and an examination of the co-parental relationship and the impact this foundation has on the transition to fatherhood. This book also explores prospective fathers involvement in the decision making process with regard to foetal screening; fatherhood in Chinese culture; and, a look at fathers and homelessness.
