Fading Away: A Tale of Memories is the first step in the Fading Away series. It takes a far more serious and focused tone than SPW: The Story of Askiino Yorito. The main characters, Grey Luna and Mizoko Yakasabe, are two seperate children who struggle through their childhoods until the day comes when they move to North Delnora and meet each other in a school for unusual students, which was made to protect them from harassment in regular public schools. Grey's grown up suffering from social anxiety, which caused her to be bullied a lot by her classmates and teachers, and manipulated by those who seemed to care about her. Mizoko grew up in an area where his talents weren't enough to keep him from being tormented by a group of rough boys a little older than him. After snapping, he begins to fight anybody who stands in his way and is moved to keep him from fighting other students. After the two meet in their new school, the two become good friends find themselves enduring hardships and challenges together until Mizoko suffers a tragic incident, giving him amnesia.
