In addition to transferring loads from superstructure to the foundation, bridge piers are also subjected to the forces of water and are expected to bear the enormous pressure of water currents. Hence the design and strength of bridge piers based on Fluid Structure Interaction is a very important factor for effective utility with minimum maintenance cost. The main objective of this study is to show the streamlines and to find the influence of velocity and pressure on the different shapes of bridge piers. Based on the above parameters the most effective bridge pier is determined. The models are developed using CAD software SpaceClaim. In this project the analysis of the suitability of different bridge piers is done by using ANSYS Workbench 19.0. The simulation work is done for different shapes of piers and direction of flow of liquid.
