Plants are the rich source of natural medicines with high bioactivity potential. Memecylon randerianum is a potent medicinal plant belonging to the family Melastomataceae. There are few reports regarding to the bioactivities like antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-diabetic activities of the species have been reported. The present work deals with the authors findings on the micromorphological, phytochemical and cytotoxic studies of the species. Anatomical and powder microscopic analysis validates the pharmacognostic role of Memecylon randerianum. Scanning electron microscopic analyses of seeds are novel reports regarding the surface texture of the seed and SEM EDX analysis gave an insight on the elemental composition of the fruits. Phytochemical analysis brings about the assessment of phytoconstituents and its bioactivities. Cytotoxic studies of the species can be exploited in anticancer studies. These findings can be extended in future for the formulation of a natural pharmaceutical drugs.
