The present research work has analysed the efficiency of the various ETF schemes and the industry as a whole. The investors can have a fair idea of the industry since its days of inception and know various problems that are affecting this industry and also the suggestive measures by which they can overcome some of these problems. The findings also lay importance on the long-term investment for the investors. Which would be able to generate stable profits? The investors also get a fair idea that the relative performance of the schemes within its peer group changes with the time and also the basis of calculation and benchmark index. The research works so far, in the area of exchange traded funds Performance are limited to certain categories. Integrated studies on different kinds of exchange traded funds in India are very limited. The present study is felt to provide research analysis on growth and development of mutual fund industry in phase wise and also covers the performance of selected Index ETF and Index Mutual funds investment portfolio and performance of ETFs in the Indian context. The study also covers growth and development of gold ETFs in Indian prospective.
