The medicinal plants Glycosmis pentaphylla root extracts of hexane fraction contained alkaloids, tannin, saponin, flavonoids, which showed good radical scavenging and antioxidant activity. Based on this activity, column chromatography was carried out followed by Crystallization, Single crystal - XRD analysis and structural solutions were carried out using orthorhombic space group. Conformation of crystalline structure and molecular packing was carried out using hydrogen bonding and intermolecular interactions. Essential oil from leaves of G. pentaphylla also possessed good radical scavenging, cytotoxic activity against colon cancer and lung cancer cell lines using MTT assay. Similarly, polysaccharides were also extracted from the stem of G.pentaphylla. Further research is in progress to check the cytotoxic activity of essential oil against Colon cancer and lung cancer cell lines (HT-29 and A549). In addition, cytotoxicity of Dioxotetracene from G. pentaphylla was assayed against human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa).This study provided an important and valuable insight information about Dioxotetracene and their antioxidant and anti-proliferative activity.
