1. From the experiment, it was revealed that the number of internodes of more than 3 cm length which determines the height of the plant was maximum in Varsadhan (6.47) with more adventitious roots (3.97) whereas, the minimum value of the same was exhibited by Bankoi (4.47, 3.41) respectively under submerged condition. The variations in plant height among thecultivars differdue to submerged condition at vegetative stage. It was also found that in non-stressed condition highest plant height was observed to bemaximum in Varshadhan (149.53cm)but after submergence the height was 180.37 cm which was20.6% increase over the former. Similarly the lowest value of the same (158.03 cm)with an increase of 43 % in height as compared to control was found in Bankoi. It showed significantly positive co-relation with panicle length (r=0.067). 2. Among the cultivars highest number of effective tillers (7.33) was recorded with Varsadhan but the lowest value of the same was in Bankoi (3.56). As regard percentage of effective tillers, it is ranged from 62.4% in Bankoi to 77.9% in Varsadhan respectively.Total number of tillers per hill had positive co-relation with water depth.
