The collection spans buildings from 1920 to 1970 and showcases the work of some of the city's most illustrious architects and designers, including, and Luigi Caccia Dominioni, as well as non-pedigreed architecture of equal impact and interest. The photographs for the publication were exclusively created by the Delfino Sisto Legnani, Paola Pansini and Matthew Billings, each evoking the entryways with individual sensibility and a stylistic interplay of detail shots - such as stones, door handles, and handrails - with larger architectural views.

The images are accompanied by outstanding written contributions from Penny Sparke, Fabrizio Ballabio, Lisa Hockemeyer, Daniel Sherer, Brain Kish, and Grazia Signori, together bring a wealth of architecture, design, and natural stone expertise to guide the reader through the art-historical, social, and technical intricacies of the ingressi. As much an architectural city guide as an architectural study, the book provides the exact address and an annotated Milan map for all featured entryways, as well as the architect name and date of construction.

Brian Kish ist Architektur- und Designhistoriker für italienisches Design des 20. Jahrhundert mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf BBPR, Caccia Dominioni, Gardella und Ponti. 2001 kuratierte er die erste US-Ausstellung über Gio Ponti und schrieb sowohl für Entryways of Milan als auch für Gio Ponti Archi-Designer (M.A.D. Paris).

Daniel Sherer lehrt Architekturgeschichte und _theorie an der Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) und an der Yale School of Architecture. Seine Forschungsarbeiten konzentrieren sich auf die moderne Rezeption humanistischer Architektur und auf den italienischen Modernismus. Dr. Sherer hat zahlreiche Artikel für europäische und amerikanische Fachzeitschriften wie Artforum, Domus, Log, Perspecta und Journal of Architecture verfasst.

Fabrizio Ballabio ist Architekt und Schriftsteller. Er lehrt Architekturgeschichte und -theorie bei der Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) und am Royal College of Art (RCA) in London und ist Gründungsmitglied von åyr.

Grazia Signori arbeitet seit 2001 auf dem Gebiet des Werksteins (Prüfung und Bestimmung). Ihre Forschung konzentriert sich auf die petrografische Zusammensetzung und die technischen Eigenschaften von Naturstein. Sie hat Gastprofessuren an mehreren italienischen Universitäten inne - darunter das Polytechnikum Mailand und die Geowissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Mailand - und publiziert regelmäßig in italienischen Fachzeitschriften.

Lisa Hockemeyer hält Vorlesungen zu Designgeschichte und -kritik an der Politecnico di Milano und am Istituto Marangoni in Mailand. Penny Sparke ist Professorin für Designgeschichte und Direktorin des Modern Interiors Research Centre an der britischen Kingston University. Neben ihrer Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeit hat sie Ausstellungen kuratiert und medienübergreifend zum Thema Designgeschichte publiziert, darunter ihre eigenen Bücher An Introduction to Design and Culture: 1900 to the Present und Design in Context. Professor Sparke ist Honorary Senior Fellow am Royal College of Art.

Der in Berlin lebende, freiberufliche Editor und Art Director Karl Kolbitz arbeitete viele Jahre mit Mario Testino und Wolfgang Tillmans zusammen, bevor er seinen eigenen Weg ging und sich auf die Entwicklung und Gestaltung von Publikationen wie Entryways of Milan und Gio Ponti konzentrierte.

Delfino Sisto Legnani lebt und arbeitet in Mailand. Seine Fotografien wurden bereits in vielen internationalen Zeitschriften sowie in führenden Kulturforen wie dem Viktoria and Albert Museum in London, bei der Mailänder Triennale sowie 2012 und 2014 auf der Architekturbiennale in Venedig vorgestellt.

Matthew Billings ist ein in Berlin ansässiger Fotograf und Videokünstler. In seinen Arbeiten beschäftigt er sich mit der Schnittstelle von Stand- und Bewegtbild und mit den formalen Verschiebungen, die der technische Fortschritt mit sich bringt. Seine Werke wurden bereits in Zeitschriften wie Basso, Butt und Paper vorgestellt.

Paola Pansini lebt und arbeitet in Mailand. Der Schwerpunkt ihrer Fotografien liegt auf Stillleben und Inneneinrichtungen. Sie hat für einige der angesehensten Modehäuser sowie für internationale Zeitschriften und Architekturbüros gearbeitet, darunter Armani, Prada, Valentino, Wallpaper*, Esquire und David Chipperfield Architects.
