When Internal Combustion(IC) engine is operating at full throttle, the maximum temperature reached by the burning gas may be as high as 2700ºC hence it is very important to remove continuous heat from the IC engine for its proper operation. Various technique used to remove heat from the engine, Radiator is one of the most famous method among all. It extracts heat from the engine by using coolant fluid. Recently Nano fluids, a mixture of water and suspended metallic nanoparticles, are used as a coolant fluid to improve heat transfer from the engine. Experimental set up has been prepared to measured heat transfer rate with different Nano fluid and also measured the effect of mass flow rate of coolant on heat transfer rate. During experiment, water used as coolant and experimental result for heat transfer has been compared with empirical co-relation given by Gnielinsky. Further experiment has been carried out with different Nano fluids i.e. Al2O3 and CuO and effect of mass flow rate on heat transfer rate is measured and compared with water. Results shows that with increase in mass flow rate of coolant and concentration ratio of nano fluid, heat transfer rate can be improved.
