This book is a guide to the analytical procedure for introducing energy controlling in hospitals. Energy controlling plays a key role as part of energy management, from the procurement of energy, to the allocation of energy costs and performance data according to cause, to the evaluation of energy performance indicators. It is understood as the systematic collection and documentation of energy-relevant measurement data with the aim of reducing energy consumption and the associated energy costs. In the course of this study, six technical directors and energy managers from university clinics and hospitals were interviewed on the topic of energy controlling. Furthermore, three interviews with managing directors of manufacturers of energy management systems were possible. The recommendation for action is aimed at technical directors, caretakers, facility managers, energy managers and operators of hospitals as well as interested parties with the goal of sensitising as many people as possible in the healthcare sector about this topic.
