The boundary between private and professional life tends to be confused. The notion of private life varies according to the importance that each individual attaches to it, and it also follows the evolution of society. Within the employment relationship, characterized by the subordination link, what place should it be assigned? If it is admitted that there is a residual private sphere in the company, how can it be effectively combined with the imperatives of productivity in the working world? Despite strong protection of the worker's private life, the encroachment of the professional sphere on the private sphere is an additional risk of seeing the notion emptied of its substance. Our study aims at highlighting the changes that have occurred in the company, in particular through the use of new technologies, and the difficulties they cause with regard to the imperative of respecting the employee's individual liberties. In this context, we will consider solutions to make the two spheres coexist with regard to the requirement of proportionality which must govern the work relationship.
