My book is filled with personal, up-close accounts of the places and events that have left enduring impressions on my mind and the minds of millions of Americans; and most particularly, baby boomers. The second half of the 20th Century was indeed one momentous headline after another; world changing events that left us with those, I know where I was and what I was doing, memories. My book takes readers back to many of those remarkable, often groovy times. A long-time technical writer, it was natural that I began writing this book as a somewhat black-and-white, chronological summary of my life; however, it evolved into a colorful chronicle of my ride on the leading wave of the baby boomer experience. In recalling the sights, sounds and emotions that framed each of my life experiences, I was able to breathe life into memories that had become vague over time. From the beginning, my book was simply meant to be a grandfather's gift to his grandchildren; however, it evolved and has become much more. I'm hopeful that my accounts will provide a renewed spirit of joy to those who have made this same journey with me, and a sense of fascination and curiosity to those who are just beginning their travels.
