The present study was designed to evaluate the effects of smoking on clinical parameters and total alkaline phosphatase activity in gingival crevicular fluid of patients with generalized chronic gingivitis and generalized chronic periodontitis. The analysis of total ALP activity in GCF from the selected experimental sites, and recording of clinical parameters (Plaque index, Gingival index, Probing pocket depth and relative attachment level was performed at baseline visit.
