It reviewed current literature in the fields of cardiovascular physiology, cardiovascular pharmacology, blood pressure, heart rate, medicinal plants; provides detailed methodology on how to assess the effect of medicinal plants in small animals, discusses the results obtained from some investigations carried out by the researcher; consequently suggesting possible mechanisms by which one of such medicinal plants can be effective in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

The author has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of the Western Cape (UWC), South Africa; a M.Sc. and B.Sc. Honours degree in Human Physiology, University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has taught Human Physiology at Imo State University, Nigeria; the University of Lagos, Nigeria; Kampala International University, Uganda and at UWC, South Africa.
