Existing buildings greatly impact the environment through energy use, water consumption, embodied carbon, and carbon emissions necessitating either demolition or retrofit. One of the most important factors affecting the energy performance within a building is a carefully and efficiently designed facade. The concept of double skin facade comes in which explores, systems configurations, cavity depths, glazing types and orientations. Thus, with an optimum configuration of the Double skin facade from single skin facade or glass curtain wall, saves an overall annual cooling load of 32%.
