Object-Orientation has for a number of years now been accepted as the ind- try standard in many areas. Their work has led to a fundamental change in how software systems are designed and programmed, resulting in reusable, reliable, scalable applications that have streamlined the process of writing software code andfacilitatedsoftwareprogramming. 2002willthusberememberedasanexceptionalyearinthehistoryofObject- Orientation and it is an honor to have Kristen Nygaard as this year s banquet speaker.
