The present research study being undertaken during the year 2012-13 in Wokha district of Nagaland for the assessment of production and marketing of banana. The specific objectives of the study were to make a comprehensive analysis pattern of production and marketing of banana in Wokha district of Nagaland and to understand the problems faced by the farmers. The cost of production includes the cost of inputs like seed, human labour, marketing and transportation cost, interest on working capital, rental value of land deprecation on implements and interest on owned fixed assets. On the average, per hectare total cost of banana production came to about Rs 59,041.30/-. Out of the total cost the share of variable cost and fixed cost was found out to be 93.99 per cent and 6.01 respectively. The per hectare cost of banana cultivation for the sample farmer was Rs 58,305.08/-, Rs 58,852.23/-, Rs 59,966.57/- respectively for marginal, small, medium group of farmer respectively. Thus it shows that the cost of production increase with increase in farm size. The average yield in the study area was 121.52 q with a gross income of Rs 1,57,880.33/-.
