LemayJ. A. Leo: J. A. Leo Lemay (1935-2008) was born in Bristow, Virginia, and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended Baltimore City College. After graduating with an A.B. degree from the University of Maryland in 1957, he served in Alaska for two years in the U.S. Army and then went on to graduate study at the University of Maryland, receiving his M.A. degree in 1962. He taught at the University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, and George Washington University before taking a position at the University of Delaware.
