Chapter 1 presents the characteristics of biogas, focusing on agricultural biogas, comparing it with other sources of electricity generation. There is a need for the biodigester and a motor-generator to obtain the final product, electrical energy.Chapters 2 and 3 consist of data collection on the energy demand of aenergy demand of a fictitious farm and the biogas production capacity as a function of the number of existing animals. From these data were specified thebiodigester to be used in obtaining biogas and the motor-generator set appropriate to the characteristics of biogas production of the farm, for the generation of electricity. The economic viability of the energy use, the sale of carbon credits and the possibility of selling the surplus electricity generated to the concessionary was also analysed. The project closes with chapter 4, which concludes that it is an interesting alternative both from an economic and energy point of view as well as from an ecological point of view.
